“Dark Fantasy”- Kanye West

His personal life aside, he’s the only one making hip-hop an interesting listen on a mainstream level. Just listen to how the tension builds within the synth line, only to clear the air just to let a short piano chord and voice sing through.

Xaphoon Jones – Testify (Radiohead vs. Kanye West)

This is a repost since the old post no longer works, but everyone needs to hear this mash-up. I peed a little from excitement when it came up on shuffle… but just a little, not enough to be gross, obviously.

Another GREAT mashup.

“I Wonder”- Kanye West

I was telling a good friend of mine about what this song meant to me, last night. Its what I used to put on repeat all day before a show to ward off stage fright. While the sound equipment was setting up, listening to this shook off whatever bothered me, and just made everything feel like its the way it should be. Like the stage was the right place to be that night. And before setting foot in front of the audience I’d repeat the verse to myself:

“And I’m back on my grind,
A psychic read my lifeline,
Told me in my lifetime,
My name would help light up the Chicago skyline,
And that’s why I’m
7 o’clock that’s prime time,
Heaven will watch God calling from the hotlines,
Why he keep giving me hot lines?
I’m a star, how could I not shine?”

Maybe its time I tried using something like this to motivate me from my weak moments. After times like last night, I could definitely use it.
