This is the darkest timeline
It always churns my stomach to see someone’s creation taken away from them. It’s one of my biggest fears as an artist and aspiring creator of things, to pour my heart and soul into something I’ve brought into being, and then ultimately be excluded from it.
Cruel. Cruel cruel cruel.

Why does Dan Harmon’s forced departure from the show he had created matter? Imagine if Shakespeare was fired off of the first production of “Much Ado About Nothing,” and then the show continued to run without him. It would have appeared as an absurd and unlikely turn of events, then. It should be considered just as absurd today, and yet, here we are with the ever-promising, yet (as of posting) still fired television writer, showrunner, and creator of “Community,” Dan Harmon.

Community fans rejoice

NBC Entertainment President Robert Greenblatt told The Daily Beast’s Jace Lacob that NBC hasn’t forgotten about Community, and that the show will be returning to the airwaves before too long. “Community is coming back,” said Greenblatt in an interview earlier this week. “We just had to get some stuff moved around for midseason, but it’s not going anywhere. I can’t say anything about next season yet, but the fact that people think it’s gone … I need to fix that.”

Because every office needs a motivational linebacker. Warning: violence and bad language abound.

Its funny how after Reebok stopped filming Terry Tate ads, the economy tanked less than a year afterward. BRING TERRY BACK. We need a motivational linebacker now more than ever.

“My name is C.J. Cregg. As you know, I work for the President of the United States. This is why I was asked to make a short speech for our reunion. It’s a terrible subject, a terrible idea, “The Promise of a Generation.” So bad, I was going to start out with a joke and fill the whole thing in with more jokes. But I find the topic has gotten under my skin while I wasn’t paying attention, because every generation has promise, and every generation fails that promise in some respects. How can we not? What is promise if not something that’s impossible to live up to? My boss had to recently make his case to the American people that he was worth reelecting, and it was not an easy process, nor should it be. And in its wake, I’ve been thinking a lot about civility, civic duty, and kindness, and how pervasive and powerful they are, how enduringly persuasive those qualities are in American life, and how I see them all around me, day after day. America is a terribly difficult idea filled with promise and impossible to live up to. Promise is inchoate and promise is what binds us. Some of us died, some got sick, some got rich, some… had bad luck, some of us were fortunate… more than others. But failed promise only truly fails when it leads to lowered expectations.”

God, I loved this show.

This guy’s walking down the street when he falls in a hole. The walls are so steep he can’t get out.

A doctor passes by and the guy shouts up, ‘Hey you. Can you help me out?’ The doctor writes a prescription, throws it down in the hole and moves on.

Then a priest comes along and the guy shouts up, ‘Father, I’m down in this hole can you help me out?’ The priest writes out a prayer, throws it down in the hole and moves on.

Then a friend walks by, ‘Hey, Joe, it’s me can you help me out?’ And the friend jumps in the hole. Our guy says, ‘Are you stupid? Now we’re both down here.’ The friend says, ‘Yeah, but I’ve been down here before and I know the way out.”

- “Noel,” The West Wing

Beautiful excerpt from a much missed show. I kind of needed this now.

“Nicholas Cage Terror Threat Level” bit from Conan.

“Our nation’s security is a lot like Nick Cage movies.  Most of the time things are okay- but every once in a while things are so awful, you cannot believe it…”

One of the many reasons to love Conan O’Brien.

HOW COULD I FORGET? Happy belated Festivus.

Hope the observant broke out their metal pole, celebrated the Airing of Grievances, and beasted out in the Feats of Strength.

Next holiday season, I might actually have a Festivus party. Joking, of course, but there’s a slight chance I may not be.
